Meet Michelle
Michelle Vernal is an English-born Kiwi whose parents emigrated from Liverpool – a city affectionately known as “Little Ireland” – when she was small. An avid reader from the start, she grew up on a steady diet of Enid Blyton books, home baking, and her mum’s tales of post-war life in the bustling port city. As an adult, she graduated to Maeve Binchy, Cathy Kelly, Sheila O'Flanagan and Marian Keyes, and fell head over heels for Ireland after a working holiday.
After living in Ireland for a time – where her husband Paul proposed – Michelle began weaving the humour, warmth and lyrical charm of the Emerald Isle into her own stories. Her much-loved Irish Guesthouse on the Green, Little Irish Village and The Irish Adoption House series transport readers to places they'd love to visit, introducing them to ordinary women navigating life's ups and downs, finding friendship, love and a place to belong.But Michelle's storytelling roots also run deep into Liverpool, the city that shaped so many of her mother's stories. The city where her engagement ring was chosen and her Brides of Bold Street Liverpool series, which fans of Evie Woods Lost Bookshop will love, brings that family connection full circle. l
